Pedernales Double Century

Date: February 11, 2012 and March 24, 2012

Start time: 6:00 am (Feb), 6:00 am (Mar)

Starting location: 3108 Creeks Edge Pkwy, Austin, TX 78733

Due to the lack of volunteers, this will be a lightly supported ride.

The rider check-in will be open from 5:30-6:00am.   You must have a helmet.
A tail light and a head light are required if you cannot finish before dark.

The course is mostly rolling hills. There is a fair anount of climbing in the first 100 miles
and the wind can be a factor at this time of year.

We are in need of volunteers to provide SAG support and to staff the controls
If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer, please send
an email to wgdunlap@aol.com.

The route is available on Bikely: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Pedernales-Double-Century.

Is there a time limit?

Yes. The ride officially ends at 3am, so riders have 20 hours to complete the ride. If you think
you will be near the back, you need to plan to be riding in the dark for 5 to 7 hours.

This is my first double, what can I expect?

If you have ridden a century, then you know how your body responds to long rides. This ride should
take about twice as long as a century plus 1 or 2 hours. So if you rode a 7 hour century this ride will take
15-16 hours. Just remember to keep eating. Some people find that it is easier to drink their calories with
products like Sustained Energy (www.hammernutrition.com).
